Bathrooms pose one of the greatest challenges for people with limited mobility, and is often the site of falls and injuries in the home. By making some simple alterations these risks can be greatly minimized.
We were able to create a fully accessible bathroom with a turning radius greater than 5ft. by expanding into closet space. This bathroom is now barrier-free and allows for easy access to the shower, sink and toilet.
The number one obstacle in home accessibility is the entry. In order to have a home that provides easy access to all – a ramp is often necessary.
This ramp was installed to provide connectivity from the home to the pool and allow for unlimited access to family time and outdoor enjoyment.
Illness, age and injury often leave people at risk for negotiating stairs safely. Avoiding stairs in your own home can lead to isolation and a sense of defeat. While elevators are oftentimes unaffordable, vertical lifts are an excellent alternative.
By adding an exterior shaft, this lift was installed without impeding upon the existing living area of the home. This entire home is now accessible to people of all levels of mobility.
